This is a nonissue in GW compared to other games. Don't get your panties in a wad.

Its all about ego, as far as I am concerned. Captain Big Balls has a dragon sword he got before youm and he's less level. Whoopdee Do. I'd rather scream, tear my hair out at that damn charr that turned me into melba toast, come back and earn the damn drop, than click "buy now" sell my soul, and become a toon tycoon. FTBS

Why on earth would anyone pay somebody else to play a game for them?

I'm selling my Counter-Strike Source character. He's all twinked out with the best gear and has a 3.73:1 KVD ratio. You're sure to beat everyone with this character. Only $500, PayPal accepted.

I actually looked into this phenomenon. These people get your user ID and password, log in as YOU, after you give them that info and pay them, and level you up, charging by the day from the site I looked at.

Um..hell no?

That is literally the same thing as paying a homeless man you met over the internet (he was on a library pc) to come to your home, and pay all your credit card bills for you while you are away, for a set fee.

Even entertaining the notion of such a thing is not mere stupidity, it is a crime against reason

As a poor college student, I may find myself one day whoring out my services by selling the occasional grouping of gold oneday. I dispise these people but, hey, guys gotta eat and it's quick money. Will I ever buy any of this stuff myself? Hell no. But if other people want to waste their money, why not?

try someone who can only jsut afford to live on their wages. i dont care what people want to do with their money, i just wonder why people even bother with the game if they're gonna buy their way through it.

Probably the same people that buy their way through life. I dont blame people taking advantage of such idiots.

I think it falls more of laziness. Simple and to the point

They don't want to do the work involved in getting that item or that account.

That's like saying, "Well, I hate my friend bob because he worked harder than me, got a better job for more money, and has a big screen tv when im stuck with a 20 inch. He also has satellite when I can only afford cable, what a loser."

How can you compare a game with life?

p.s I was talking about buying credits and items, I would never buy power leveling.

Ok if you want to say that, I would say your an idiot if money is that tight for you, for spending $50 on a game to begin with, or for wasting your time playing it when you could be spending that time trying to better yourself for the future. Someone can always find ways of flaming anyone; it is just counter productive and solves nothing.

I will apologize now because I honestly don’t think you’re an idiot and I wish you the best. I just want to make my point that calling anyone you have never met an idiot for something you think is wrong does not address that problem. It only inflames the community and causes more flames.

Getting back to this ... Is it illegal for people to sell property in a game who's intellectual property rights belong to someone else (without their permission)?

I'm thinking that there is no provision in the EULA that says they can and far too many points that say they cannot.

Also, it may be up to the common player like you and I to decide if we want to buy/sell . It's the holder of the IP rights to state right or wrong.

There is a loop-hole to the whole "intellectual property rights" and that is, "Selling your time" That is how people get away with selling characters, gold, items, etc. Its silly, but it works.
